Find out whether a site responds, when its SSL certificate expires and how long its domain is paid for. No sign-up needed.
What exactly is checked
Uptime
We open the address from our server in Europe and wait up to 10 seconds for a response, following up to five redirects. Status codes 2xx and 3xx mean the site is up. We also count 401 and 403 as up: that is how password-protected pages and bot protection respond.
SSL certificate
We connect to port 443 and read the expiry date from the certificate the server presents. It is the same date your browser shows when you click the padlock.
Domain expiry
For .ru, .su and .рф we ask the WHOIS of the Russian Coordination Center, for other zones we use RDAP. We look up the registered domain: for shop.example.ru that is example.ru.
